New reverts' corner
As he/she enters the realm of Islam, a new revert is bound to be torn between the habits of his old self and the demands of his new character. He/she often faces a dilemma: shall he/she discard altogether anything that belongs to his past and exclusively espouse the beliefs and teachings of Islam or reach a compromise between the requirements of Islam and those of his former religion and culture? Some reverts, notwithstanding their good will and fervor, will go on for many years carrying their old beliefs and practices but disguised in the garb of Islam; others would relinquish integrally their original culture and customs as being anti-Islamic and lapse thus into radicalism and fanaticism. A third category- the most balanced - is that of those who have reached a compromise between the old and the new, taking on the virtues of their original culture and molding them in the cast of Islam.
The aim of this corner is to provide answers to the questions of new reverts to Islam with a view to easing their way to a better understanding of their new religion and to helping them reach a more balanced view of themselves and the world in which they live.
We would like to draw our guests’ attention that the questions we are expecting from them are not Fiqh (jurisprudence) questions but intellectual questions relative to faith creed and identity.
